Aluminum has several remarkable characteristics. The first one is its machinability. It can be machined and can be hardened to have greater strength. It also has good strength-to-weight ratio. It has good electrical conductivity, is recyclable and has potential for anodizing.
The production of aluminum requires a lot of energy, making it more expensive than other alternative materials like steel. Aluminum's oxide coating can cause damages to tooling. Also, aluminum has the tendency to warp at heightened temperatures.
Aluminum 6061 (CNC) has very excellent machinability, and has natural resistance to corrosion. It also has good strength-to-weight ratio. These characteristics put Aluminum 6061 to the top of the list of popular aluminum alloy.
Aluminum 7075-T6 (CNC) can be compared to steels when it comes to its strength and hardness, and just like Aluminum 6061, it has excellent strength-to-weight ratio.
Aluminum 6082 (CNC) is British Standards compliant. And though it has similar composition and properties to 6061, it has slightly higher tensile strength.
Aluminum 5083 (CNC) is a good chocie of material for marine applications, for welded parts of warships, automobiles, and aircraft panels. It is a strain hardening alluminum alloy that can withstand oxidation or other chemical reaction, and it also has good weldability and moderate strength.
Aluminum 2017 has only medium strength, but it's very ductile and formable compared to Aluminum 2014.
Aluminum 2024 is another type of aluminum alloy that is suitable for aerospace applications. It has exceptional resistance to fatigue and excellent strength.
Aluminum 5052 has good forming performance, is resistant to corrosion, has high fatigue strength and moderate static strength. It is used in manufacturing of aircraft fuel tanks, tubing, and sheet metal parts for transportation vehicle.
Aluminum 6063 can undergo heat treatment and has good mechanical properties. It laso has good weldability, and is suitable for aerospace applications.
Aluminum 7050 is very ductile and tough. It has excellent mechanical properties, high strength, and is fatigue resistant, making it very suitable for aerospace applications.
Aluminum A380 has good machinability. Casting, mechanical and thermal properties are all roled into this type of aluminum alloy. It is commonly used in a wide variety of products such as engine brackets, household furnitures, gearbox cases, and power and hand tools.
Aluminum MIC-6's outstanding characteristics is stability. It is a light weight material and has high machinability even at great speed. It does not have any tension, contaminants, and is not porous.
Aluminum alloy is made up of different metals but its most predominant metal is aluminum (aluminum). Next to oxygen and silicon, aluminum is the most abundant mineral on Earth and is present in more than 270 minerals.
